CHARLOTTE, N.C. – If the franchising world was a chess board, RockBox Fitness just added a game-changing piece. The state-of-the-art fitness franchise that combines boxing, kickboxing, and functional training into high-energy group workouts has just signed franchising guru Jeff Dudan to bolster their already-booming franchise development.
Dudan is the former co-founder and CEO of AdvantaClean, the world’s largest franchising system in the home improvement space, specializing in mold remediation, water damage restoration, and air duct and dryer-vent cleaning. He grew the company to more than 230 franchise territories in 37 states before selling it to Home Franchise Concepts in January 2019. For RockBox, he will take that vast experience and identify the top markets for growth as well as find the best prospective franchise partners.
“I will be leading our strategic efforts as we quickly expand into new markets,” Dudan said. “This business has all of the components necessary to create a world-class brand for both franchisees and end consumers. The pieces are all here. The company already has a motivated and properly-experienced management team, so I’m incredibly excited to implement the growth plan, including new complementary product introductions and even proprietary software platforms being developed that will augment the consumer experience.”
The genesis of AdvantaClean came when Dudan traveled to south Florida in 1992 to help with the cleanup process after Hurricane Andrew. Then realizing the business potential in the industry, he opened a location in Orange County, Florida two years later. He expanded the business to Wilmington in 1996 after coastal storms struck there. Fast forward to 2009 and Dudan began franchising AdvantaClean.
“We are extremely happy to welcome Jeff to the team,” RockBox Co-Founder Roger Martin said. “With his impressive background and operational excellence, we are very confident in his ability to lead our franchise development, work with our franchise partners and locate markets that make sense for our company.”
Founded in 2017 and franchising since early 2018, RockBox Fitness was built to avoid the No. 1 problem with any fitness program – boredom. The studios feature all the boxing equipment and heavy bags one would expect for a boxing- and kickboxing-based workout, plus an array of functional training tools like kettle bells, battle ropes and sleds (elliptical and treadmill machines need not apply). In addition, the studios are equipped with high-end sound systems to rock the tunes that keep members pumped and pushing hard. Color-adaptive lighting is also used to cue another level of psychological motivation. When the lights change, so does the intensity.
“One of the things that attracted me to RockBox Fitness was the company’s level of research and how it has been positioned in the fitness industry,” Dudan said. “RockBox has everything you’re looking for in a fitness brand. I became a member last year and I’ve been experiencing tremendous personal results.”
RockBox has four different membership types from which to choose ranging from unlimited training sessions to private lessons. Each trainer is professionally certified, accredited and has years-upon-years of experience boxing and kickboxing.
With seven locations already open and operating in North Carolina, company plans call for having as many as 200 total units across the country by 2024. Franchise development agreements have already been signed for more than 20 studios throughout Arizona, California, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee and now South Carolina.
